I Love You More

There's a familiar little exchange in our house. One of us says, 'I love you.' The other says, 'I love you more.' Then comes the inevitable argument about who actually means it more. After all these years, neither of us is willing to concede. That back-and-forth became the heart of this song.

I started thinking about all the things I genuinely love: salt air, coastal drives, a table overlooking the ocean, a cold drink, our fur babies, and the places we've been lucky enough to see together. Bora Bora, Lake Tahoe, wine country, Patagonia. Even a simple night out can end up on the list. They're all part of our story, and each one brings back a different memory.

But I didn't want to write a travel checklist. I wanted to make the list bigger and bigger until it became a little ridiculous, because that's the joke and the truth at the same time. Give me every beach, every mountain, every place still on the bucket list. I'd still pick her.

The quieter part is my favorite: that look, that little smile, and the same two sentences we've said a thousand times. The whole song comes back to that. I love all those things. I love her more. And given that I wrote a song about it doesn't that mean I really do? :)
